NorthFront Entrepreneur Awards Banquet 2016

Dec 10, 2015

Kaysville, UT, Feb 03, 2016 – When it comes to starting a business in Utah, many people think that there is Utah Valley and everything else. In fact, many people think that anything north of Salt Lake is pretty much in Idaho. Of course, there have been many successful startups created in Utah valley and it is an area rich in startup culture. However, there are many other places across the state catching the entrepreneur spirit and creating successful businesses. On February 18th, the NorthFront Entrepreneur Alliance (www.NorthFrontAlliance.org), will honor startups from Weber and Davis Counties at its annual Entrepreneur Excellence Awards Banquet to honor such entrepreneurs.

2015-banquet-header-smNow in its seventh year, the Entrepreneur Excellence Awards honors top performing startup businesses from the northern Wasatch Front. “A lot of people don’t realize how much is going on up here”, said Doug Larsen, Weber County Economic Development Director and NorthFront Board Chairman. “With the Startup Ogden Center, the NorthFront BRC, Startup Weekend events, entrepreneur incentives and more, we are churning out new businesses here. In fact, many past NorthFront award winners are companies we’ve all heard of such as Ragnar Races and Pluralsight.”

This year, awards will be presented in four categories: Best Bootstrapped, Rapid Growth, Big Potential, and the Entrepreneur Legacy Awards. This year’s recipients are:

  • Jerry Ropelato, serial entrepreneur and CEO of Whiteclouds- now the largest 3D printing company in the world (just 3D printed the first athlete brace used in the superbowl!)
  • Brad Walters, CEO of Monnit – a mutli-million IoT company making big waves in the hot “internet of things” world. Built from the ground up.
  • Jory Francis, CEO of Yusef Labs- a Davis County personal care product manufacturer with impressive sales all built from the ground up with no outside funding.
  • Kim Wheelwright, CEO of Global Health Industries- an Ogden based nutritional supplement manufacturer that has grown from 2 to 60 employees.

“This year’s winners are extremely bright and especially deserving,” said Bret Millburn, Davis County Commissioner and Alliance board member. “Every year, I am amazed at the quality of startups in this area and how hard they work to get their business off the ground. These are all great companies growing very fast.”

The awards event will take place at the NorthFront Business Resource Center in Kaysville on Thursday, Feb 18th, from 11:30-1:00. Due to generous sponsor donations, registration is only $10 which includes a gourmet lunch. To register, visit: www.NorthFrontBanquet16.eventbrite.com
